When I was just 16, I used to grannysit a 98-year-old lady who was a good friend of my family. We'd sit by the fire, and she'd tell me all these amazing stories from her life. I loved seeing her face light up as she shared her adventures. It hit me then that behind her wrinkles and white hair was one tough lady who had lived an inspiring life. That's when I knew I wanted to be a carer.


After working for other care companies and seeing how they dropped the ball on personal care and interaction, I got super frustrated and upset. The clients weren't treated with respect or dignity, and it broke my heart.


But I cared too much about doing things right and making a real difference in people's lives. So, I decided to go my own way, knowing I could step up on every level. It's crucial to me that these individuals get to live their lives to the fullest, cosy and safe in their own homes, surrounded by everything they love.


I'm a compassionate and caring person with a huge heart and a burning desire to help those who need it most. I'm all about working hard and getting things done right the first time, no cutting corners or procrastinating. I genuinely want to make a positive impact on others and those in my care. I'm kind, caring, and always ready to lend a hand. Plus, I've got a knack for bringing out the best in people and making them smile.

Companionship


I'm here not to just to provide the more mundane care services.

I recognise that many people are lonely or isolated and may want some companionship and a conversation from a friendly face.


But it’s not just about meeting your care requirements; it’s about preserving the lifestyle you cherish.

My goal is to ensure that you can continue enjoying the activities, routines, and hobbies that bring you joy. Whether it’s taking a leisurely stroll in the park, attending social events, or pursuing your passions, I'm here to support you in living life to the fullest. I like to think I've got a good sense of humour and I like to put a smile on peoples faces as I work alongside them. 

Listening to stories of your lives and your happy memories gives me a sense of joy.

People with dementia often like to do housework, cleaning or cooking. Also listening/ singing to their favourite music, always brings a smile.


Domestic care


If you or your loved one is finding your daily household chores more physically demanding and tiring, my domestic care is here to lend you a helping hand keeping your home clean and tidy with one-off or regular visits.


I can support with such daily tasks as:


  • Vacuuming, dusting and polishing
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Changing bed linen
  • Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms
  • Shopping and running regular errands
  • Food and drink preparation
  • Washing up
  • General tidying and other household duties


Personal care


My personal care services are available for any daily tasks that you may need help with such as bathing, showering, dressing, toileting; all done in the comfort of your own home.

My personal care services include, but are not limited to:


  • Bathing and showering (including bed baths).
  • Lotion and cream application as required.
  • Dressing/getting ready for bed.
  • Oral hygiene.
  • Haircare and make-up application.
  • Support with shaving.
  • Help with toileting, including the use of a bedpan or commode.
  • Changing of continence pads, and cleaning of intimate areas.
  • Bed positioning support; helping you to stretch and prevent bed sores.
  • Foot care; especially if you’re a diabetic and need to be extra careful with your feet.
  • Administration of Medication 


No matter your need, I have all the knowledge and experience to help. I will work to your regular routines and ensure that the support I offer is tailored to your specific requirements.

    Ruth came to look after our 94 year old father after a long period in hospital which had left him with decreased mobility and in low spirits. Previously independent and never having had care, we were worried how it would work out but Ruth’s cheerful demeanour, great sense of humour and ‘can do’ attitude to life won him over and Dad allowed her to take over aspects of his life, accept his loss of independence and looked forward to her visits. She undertook all his domestic work, cooking from scratch and his personal care.

    Ruth became a much valued part of Dad’s life and this brought peace of mind for the family. She was always completely reliable and also made herself available and went the extra mile when needed.

    Ruth was always cheerful, attentive. and never rushed him, even though he would play on that a bit. She never clock watched and never made him feel as if he was a pain, which he was at times. 

    Being an elderly man who was not as fit as he used to be, he had days where he would be depressed and angry that he couldn't do things,  but she did all her duty with his dignity in mind. I never had any issues with her work, and my dad was tearful when she had to leave. 

    Other services we used weren't the same, and didn't have the caring approach to him that he wanted and needed.
